Mansory signs BMW M5 up for a weight reduction program

With a curb weight bordering on 2.5 metric tons (5,500 lbs), the BMW M5 arguably doesn’t make a great track tool. But if you must pretend that it’s a sporty ride, Mansory has an extensive body kit in store.

Changes start at the front end with a ventilated hood, a splitter and an air intake shroud made from forged carbon fiber. The sides get gill-like vents, skirts and mirror caps. The rear end looks especially flamboyant with a giant diffuser and a pair of spoilers.

A set of 22-inch multi-spoke forged wheels rounds off the look. To make sure the Bavarian feels more agile, Mansory also dials up the output of its hybridized 4.4-liter V8 to 850 PS (838 hp / 625 kW) and 1,150 Nm (848 lb-ft) of torque. The interior gets the usual makeover with black and orange leather, more carbon accents and brushed aluminum pedal pads.

Just how much faster or lighter the new M5 is with these mods is unknown.
