Italy vocally dissatisfied with Stellantis’ latest actions

The government of Italy is not fond of Stellantis Group taking the production of Italian car brands out of the country.

The reports are coming in as rumors continue to circulate about Chery planning to launch its own production on the Apennine Peninsula. Furthermore, the company isn’t alone in its decision to consider Italy as the destination for its factories in Europe. Another example is Dongfeng, which plans to open a manufacturing complex in the country to assemble no less than 100,000 electrified vehicles there and export them into other EU countries.

The Italian government has already agreed to provide Dongfeng with some suggested destinations for its industrial site. When seen from this perspective, it’s actually not clear why Chinese automakers find it easier to localize their production in Italy than a U.S. one does.
