Tank 300 Hi4-T officially capped at 3,000 production units

Chinese SUV maker Tank has shared some technical details regarding its new 300 Hybrid model and confirmed that only 3,000 units will be made until the end of the year.

The 300 Hi4-T off-roader utilizes a 2.0-liter turbo engine rated at 244 PS (241 hp / 179 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. It gets assistance from an electric motor contributing 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque of its own. A nine-speed transmission carries a total of 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) to the wheels.

A 37.1-kWh battery pack residing under the floor can take the SUV as far as 105 kilometers (65 miles) before charging becomes necessary. Fuel economy in hybrid mode averages at 8.8 liters per 100 km (26.7 miles per U.S. gallon) – it’s a full-fledged off-roader we’re talking about, after all. You get 860 km (534 miles) of range from a full tank, the company says.

In the chassis department, the Tank 300 Hi4-T has just 2 millimeters (less than one-tenth of an inch) less ground clearance than the standard model – likely due to the battery. Its approach and departure angles stay at solid 32 and 33 degrees, and it can still wade water up to 700 mm (27.3 inches) high.

As usual, the SUV has a transfer case with reduction gear, inter-wheel diff locks and a host of electronic assists included as standard equipment.
