Mahindra XUV300 gets a facelift and a new name

The Mahindra XUV 3XO supermini may be marketed as a new car in India, but it’s essentially a refreshed and renamed XUV300 model based on the SsangYong Tivoli. Customers in India can already pre-order it from 749,000 to 1,549,000 Rupees (U.S. $9,000–18,500).

The switch shouldn’t be surprising, considering that Indian automaker owns the KG Mobility brand (former SsangYong). The car itself looks just as boxy as before while flaunting new headlights, a revised radiator grille, different bumpers, a new hood and a redesigned tailgate. Buyers can choose between 16-inch and 17-inch wheels.

The body dimensions are 3,990 x 1,821 x 1,547 mm (155.9 x 71.1 x 60.4 inches) with 2,600 mm (101.6 inches) between the axles. The facelift version is 5 mm (0.2”) shorter than the predecessor and 20 mm (0.8”) taller, but still fits into the size category that’s eligible for major tax deductions in India.

Inside, the dashboard layout, the steering wheel design and the infotainment system are all new. The central display now sits apart from the dash screen. Digital dash remains a paid option, as do panoramic glass roof, wireless charger, surround-view cameras, adaptive cruise control and other smart features.

There are three engine options. One is a 1.2-liter petrol turbo rated at 111 PS (109 hp / 82 kW). Another one is the same block boosted further to 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW). The third option is a 1.5-liter turbo diesel rated at 117 PS (115 hp / 86 kW). Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions are available for the entire range, while a DCT is diesel-only. Regardless of your choices, only the front wheels can be driven.
