5th-gen Geely Emgrand shows up for the first time

With nearly 200 mm (8 inches) of added body length and more than 100 mm (4 inches) of extra wheelbase, the new Emgrand sedan de-facto becomes an E-Class vehicle. It also trades its 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine for a superior turbo mill, reports AutoHome.cn.

You may check out the official photos of the new generation in the gallery above and compare it to the preceding generation in the video. The car is now sized 4,815 x 1,885 x 1,480 mm large with 2,755 mm between the axles and 235/45 R18 tires.

The overall design stays recognizable and contains nods to the upmarket Geely Preface, as well as the earlier Emgrand generations. The radiator grille is as large as ever and consists of 12 vertical chrome bars. More chrome accents can be found all over the body, and the headlights look slimmer than before. The taillights also sport new patterns that Geely claims are visible from up to 300 meters (984 ft) away. In turn, new LED headlights illuminate the road up to 170 meters (557 ft) ahead. The company hints to our U.S.-based readers that it’s nearly as much as the length of two football fields.

For the powertrain, the E-Class newcomer now utilizes a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine mated to a seven-speed preselector DCT. It sends 181 PS (179 hp / 133 kW) to the front wheels, taking the Emgrand from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds.
