Properly tuned Gen.1 Acura NSX hits $141k at auction

An all-black Acura NSX made in 1992 and later upgraded with a Comptech PowerPlus supercharger crossed the auction block in the United States earlier this week. Modified classics like this one often go underappreciated by collectors, but this particular example has nonetheless managed to find a new owner for a cool $141,000.

Working with a Berlina Black coupe, an uncredited tuning company upfitted its interaxle 3.0-liter V6 with a high-flow carbon intake, sportier exhaust components and other modern goodies. It started its life with just 274 PS (270 hp / 202 kW) and 285 Nm (210 lb-ft) of torque at the crank, but the tuning enabled it to deliver 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) and 375 Nm (277 lb-ft) to the wheels on the dyno stand. The obvious implication is that the numbers at the crank – before the transmission losses – are even bigger.

On the exterior side of things, this NSX is quite a looker with its fixed rear wing, side air intakes and power-assisted mirrors. The arches are occupied by Tecnomagnesio magnesium alloy rims installed in 17 inches at the front and 18 at the back, wrapped in Dunlop Direzza ZIII tires.

Things look just as neat in the cabin with adjustable sport seats, climate control, cruise control, stainless-steel scuff plates and a Kenwood audio system with a touchscreen for the interface.

Be sure to check out the video for a taste of the first-gen Acura NSX on the road. The 50% power bump really isn’t hard to notice.
