Sony’s debuting EV comes preloaded with a PlayStation

When Sony and Honda introduced their first jointly designed electric car – the Afeela 1 – many jokingly called it “a PlayStation on wheels.” We’ll leave it to you to decide whether that was a self-fulfilling prophecy, because the electronics company has just confirmed that the car will ship with PS5-grade console hardware on board.

The specific model isn’t named, but we are told that all PlayStation games of the fourth and fifth generation will be supported, as well as teamplay using two gamepads (seemingly not included). Performance-wise, Sony claims everything will be fine as long as you can get enough bandwidth for online features. The required minimum is 5Mbps, while the optimal connection is estimated at 15Mbps.

The electric car itself will make a debut at the CES show in the USA in early January. Among other things, Sony wants to sell it with a digital number plate that users will be able to personalize however they want while remaining compliant with the laws of the country or state they are in.
