Formula 1 champion facing an invitation to court over dangerous driving

Max Verstappen, twice-champion of Formula 1, is facing multiple charges after a short video went online showing him driving an Aston Martin Valkyrie on the streets of France. The police determined multiple traffic law violations in the tiny vid, Sportsmanor reports.

First of all, the Netherlands-born star racer accelerates to 124 km/h (77 mph) on a stretch of road limited to 90 km/h (56 mph). Furthermore, he does so in the left lane, which is also prohibited by the local traffic regulations.

Third, he is wearing earphones. This accusation seems the most controversial of all, since Aston Martin provides special earphones with every Valkyrie sold to protect the hearing of those inside the temperamental 1,000-horsepower car. Still, wearing headphones of any kind is apparently not allowed on the roads of France.

The Red Bull team that Verstappen is a part of may also be looking forward to a litigation. The police in France has a special department tasked with watching footage of potentially dangerous driving and identifying those responsible. The local media believe that the racing team may be charged with endangering people’s lives by filming and publishing the video.
