Russian luxury automaker Aurus has announced a long-wheelbase, armored version of its SUV Komendant. The production will start next year at the company’s factory in Nizhny Novgorod.
Compared to the original, the LWB variant shown in the first photo here has new doors, rear fenders and roof. The body length gains around 500 mm (20 inches) for a total of 5,880 mm (229.7 inches). Armor pads all around will provide an unspecified level of ballistic protection.
For the powertrain, the Komendant will continue to rely on its 4.4-liter turbo V8 paired with an electric motor integrated into its nine-speed AT. The car sends 598 PS (590 hp / 440 kW) to all four wheels.
The standard Komendant SUV, which you can see in the remainder of the gallery and the video here, went into production in Yelabuga, Russia in last November. The company reported in late 2022 that it was well on track to producing at least 200 luxury SUVs by the end of the year.
