Bentley Bentayga S bows in Europe with a lot to show, but no extra go

Bentley has launched the fourth version of its refreshed Bentayga SUV. However, while the first three versions all had different powertrains, the S is just a standard spec with sported-up looks.

The 4.0-liter V8 TT under the hood stays stock, feeding the eight-speed auto transmission with 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW). This enables the bulky crossover to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds and max out at 290 km/h (180 mph).

The shock absorbers in the air suspension are 15% more rigid in the S version, and active stabilization comes pre-installed with some revised settings and a better imitation of torque vectoring through the use of brakes. The entry-spec 21-inch wheels make way for larger 22-inch ones, but carbon-ceramic brakes and a straight-piped exhaust system remain optional.

Exterior differences include an added trunk lid spoiler like the one on the Bentayga Speed, slightly tinted windows and black details such as mirrors and tailpipes.

The interior still uses a leather/Alcantara combo, but benefits from added contrast accents and an updated dashboard graphics. Like all other versions, the S can be purchased with an optional third seat row, as well as individual second-row seats instead of the usual sofa.
