In March this year, G-Power came out with an extreme edition of the BMW M5 (F90) titled the G5M Hurricane RS. The car packed all of 840 PS and 1,040 Nm of torque – but, as it turned out, it still had potential in it.
The newly revealed G5M Hurricane RR does not have much to show for it, but it packs 900 metric horses (888 hp / 662 kW) instead of 840 and should therefore be even wilder than its predecessor. The tuning kit includes forged pistons and connecting rods, cooling system improvements and two brand-new turbochargers put into CNC-machined housings. Minor mods are included for the transmission and the exhaust system. Even so, the torque stays capped at 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) to prevent excess wear and tear.
The G-Power G5M Hurricane RS from seven months ago could reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.5 seconds and ultimately climb as high as 350 km/h (217 mph). No times have been quoted for the RR version so far, and the pricing remains likewise unannounced.
The interesting part is that G-Power hinted at the “rather conservative” nature of the tuning, which could mean that the M5 took it well enough and could be pushed even further given time and luck.
