Bugatti takes every Centodieci to 380 km/h prior to delivery

With a production run limited to 10 units, one would think the entire Bugatti Centodieci lineup would just sit around in garages with zero miles on the odometer. As a matter of fact, though, every car ships with at least 434 kilometers (270 miles) under its belt and an attained top speed of 380 km/h (236 mph) – all thanks to factory-side testing.

Examining a Bugatti Centodieci before the delivery involves much more than just looking through all the main units and components wearing white gloves. Aside from ensuring perfect fitment of all the parts, the QA team calls upon its test driver, Steve Jenny, to test the performance. During his long and dangerously fast ride, Steve puts the hypercar in virtually every conceivable situation that drivers are likely to experience on the road and track.

The trials involve accelerating with the pedal to the metal and hitting the maximum speed, as well as evasive maneuvers performed at the very limit of the car’s capabilities.

Once the test drive is over and the necessary corrections are made, Bugatti replaces the gearbox filter and the wheels with tires. Steve Jenny then proceeds to drive the car for another 50 km (31 miles) or so just to make sure everything is in top shape prior to the delivery.
