Chery unveils the Fulwin T10, a large hybrid SUV

Fulwin (Fengyun), a Chery sub-brand that underwent a relaunch not long ago, is coming back to the market of China with a new plug-in hybrid utility vehicle named the T10. Here are its first images and specifications recently uploaded to the Ministry of Industry and IT database.

Before we begin, it’s worth noting that Car News China expects the model to premiere at the upcoming auto show in Beijing in late April and go on sale in China in mid-May. Price-wise, the current estimations lie between 180,000 and 250,000 Yuan (U.S. $25,000–34,800).

The Fulwin T10 is essentially just a long-wheelbase variant of the T9 model, which in turn cn be described as a plug-in hybrid version of the Chery Tiggo 9. All three models have exactly 2,820 mm between the axles and 1,930 mm of body width. Coming in at 4,850 mm long, though, the new T10 is a little larger than its cousins.

At the front end, the headlights and the side air vents look different from the T9, and the central intake sports upright slats instead of diagonal ones. Moving on to the side, the roof is more slanted and the rear quarter-panel windows are larger. The rear bumper and the taillights also look mildly redesigned, and that’s about it. For the wheels, you can choose from 18-, 19- and 20-inch options.

The interior remains to be revealed. Fulwin has registered the car as a five- and a six-seater, which is new since the T9 can only have either five or seven seats. Car News China supposes that the T10 might end up positioned as a flagship of sorts, but this doesn’t sound very likely. After all, as it reintroduced the Fulwin brand last fall, Chery teased an even larger SUV prototype that it called the T11.

At any rate, it seems obvious at this point that just like the T9, the new T10 will run on the Kungpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM powertrain. It comprises a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque and an electric motor adding 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque.

The battery specs are unknown, but the data sheet mentions that it comes from CATL. The T9 uses a different battery pack from Hefei Guoxuan Hi-Tech Power Energy, which delivers 19.4 kWh of power and translates into 100 km (62 miles) of electric range.
