Chery’s flagship SUV presents interior

Chery has posted the first official shots of its upcoming Tiggo 9. The marque’s largest and most opulent crossover SUV so far resembles Mercedes-Benz cars on the inside and is expected to outdo its predecessor, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max, in terms of trim material quality.

Speaking of the features traditional for Chery cars, only the two 12.3-inch displays united under a single pane of glass remain. There is also the steering wheel hub with the company name on it. The rest is all new.

The Mercedes vibes largely originate from seat adjustment panels mounted on the doors, a trio of air intakes in the middle of the dash panel and a paddle shifter on the right. The center tunnel houses a drive mode dial and an armrest.

Any hardware buttons still remaining can be found on the doors, while the steering wheel and the console between the seats offer touch-sensitive screens. The infotainment unit also provides access to HVAC settings. Finally, there is a pad for a couple of smartphones inside that looks like a wireless charger.

Only the five-seat version has been revealed so far, but at 4,820 mm (188.3 inches) long, the car could easily accommodate three rows of seats. The rear row is a rather simple-looking sofa without any adjustments.

The Tiggo 9 is set to debut at Auto Shanghai in late April and go on sale priced around 170,000 Yuan. It will originally ship with a 2.0-liter Kunpeng turbo engine currently rated between 254 and 261 PS on its domestic market (251 and 257 hp; 187 and 192 kW). CarNewsChina claims the transmission will be eight-speed automatic with no further options, but the buyers will be choosing between FWD and AWD.
