Chevrolet hires a graffiti artist to produce a special Camaro for Japan

The Chevrolet brand has come up with an art car take on the Camaro model for Japan. Dubbed the Vivid Orange Edition, it was designed by a graffiti artist known as Number-D, who prepared art items he will be handing out as gifts to anyone willing to test-drive the car. A total of 20 such Camaros will be made.

The Vivid Orange exterior option had been available in the United States for a while (see video), but now is the first time Japan received it. A broad silver stripe running over the entire body adds a sporty aura. The interior is black and offers Recaro sport seats.

From the technical standpoint, it is a stock Camaro SS model utilizing a 6.2-liter V8 to hit the wheels with 453 PS (447 hp / 333 kW) and 617 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque. Whereas the base SS model starts from ¥8,480,000 (U.S. $62,900), the Vivid Orange Edition begins at ¥8,930,000 ($66,200).

The car will celebrate its public debut on the Fuji Speedway during the Chevrolet Fan Day on May 20. The first test drives (and gift distribution) will take place on June 3 and 4. The actual deliveries will not begin until mid-June.
