Chevy Silverado gets a $90k 1,000-HP special edition

Specialty Vehicle Engineering has worked its “Yenko” tuning magic on another vehicle, tackling a Chevrolet Silverado Single Cab this time around. For $89,995 plus whatever the donor vehicle costs, it will be swapped to an engine capable of 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 747 kW) and a six-speed manual transmission.

The new V8 mill has 6.2 liters of displacement and features aluminum and stainless-steel forged internals. It also makes use of a different header, a custom fuel system and an impressively large supercharger. SVE says you can recalibrate the truck whenever you want it to run on racing-grade fuel or regular pump gas. A high-end stainless-steel exhaust system will ensure that the hot gases get expelled before they can overheat the drivetrain.

Plenty of work has been done in the chassis department, with lowering springs, Fox shocks and heavy-duty sway bars improving handling at higher speeds. Brembo brakes were installed at all four corners with six-piston calipers and 400mm (15.6-inch) rotors, and the 22-inch wheels seen here were designed specifically for this project.

Rounding off the YENKO/SC Supercharged Silverado are Nitto tires, special edition badges and plaques both inside and outside, and some minimal graphics around the bed.

The name “Yenko” gained an iconic status in the Chevrolet fan community in the 1960s when Don Yenko, the owner of a Chevrolet dealership in the United States, started putting his name on various Chevrolets prepped for competitive motorsports. SVE is the latest tuning company to make use of the Yenko brand.
