Little Goes a Long Way: Tuned 1970 Dodge Dart heads to Monterey

The Dodge brand may largely be associated with Chargers and Challengers these days (plus the occasional Viper), but back in the 1960s, it was represented by a compact and agile Dodge Dart. It came in sedan, coupe and convertible flavors and was most often seen running around with a low-end I6 engine, but some examples ended up with a huge 7.0-liter V8. The Dart seen here packs an even better engine and will be up for grabs at the Monterey Car Week on August 14–16, 2025.

The glossy-black coupe was tuned and modernized to feel like something Dodge produced for our day and age. It ended up with a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 tuned to 492 PS (485 hp / 362 kW), an unprecedented amount of power for this particular retro car. Brakes and suspension were both upgraded to better handle the added power and weight, and the transmission was replaced with a five-speed automatic box.

Major improvements were made in the handling department as well. The steering was completely redone using a power-assisted rack-and-pinion mechanism. Sway bars were installed at both ends, and a Sure Grip differential was introduced at the back for sharper cornering. 18-inch Budnik wheels slotted into the arches for more acceleration potential.

Like any self-respecting restomod, this Dart features power-adjustable seats in the cabin, an aluminum dashboard trimmed with leather, a Vintage Air HVAC and a premium audio system.

There are no price estimates.
