Dodge Journey nameplate revived in China, conceals a rebadged GAC GS5

Dodge retired the Journey model in North America in 2020, but the name had not stayed unused for long: the facelifted GAC Trumpchi GS5 crossover is now officially called “Dodge Journey” in Mexico and some other countries.

Production has already started in China, but GAC emphasizes that Mexico will be the primary target market. Later on, the soft-roader will enter the markets of Columbia, Chile and Peru. Powertrain details remain to be announced, but it would be logical to assume that the car still comes powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine burning petrol for 168 PS (166 hp / 124 kW). A six-speed automatic transmission drives the front wheels and front wheels only.

Dodge plans to launch another compact-sized crossover named Hornet in the future. It will be based on the Alfa Romeo Tonale chassis and feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
