Mengshi M-Hero debuts in production form

We have already seen the Mengshi M-Terrain Concept by Dongfeng, and now the car has distilled into a large mass-market SUV dubbed the M-Hero.

The size and the shape make it look much like the GMC Hummer EV, but it seems that the Chinese automaker managed to avoid blatant copying here. The 5.2-meter long off-roader has its own, rather authentic-looking design inspired by that of the M-Terrain Concept (see video). The body is sleek and clean, the towing eyes are hidden inside the bumpers, and the running boards are non-powered. Interestingly, the front doors sport external hinges.

The company says the production-ready car is about 80 percent unitized with its concept. This includes the frame, the independent suspension, the 4WS system quad electric motors joining efforts for more than 1,000 horsepower at the wheels. A Level 3 self-driving system is also in the feature list, but all details remain to be revealed.

The production should start in mid-2023. Rumor has it the prices will begin from around 700,000 Yuan, or 100,000 USD.
