Exeed Yaoguang gets unveiled in China

Chery’s sub-brand Exeed has revealed the Yaoguang, the production car based on the AtlantiX Concept (see video), coming to replace the TXL SUV on its domestic market.

This is the first time we see the car after its original announcement in late summer, which only included one photo. We now know that it comes based on the same platform as the TXL, although not without modifications.

The production car is 4,781 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,671 mm tall with 2,815 mm of space between the axles. It looks much like the concept with a four-spoke steering wheel, two displays united under a single cowling, and an HVAC panel with three knobs. The center console is two-tier with a compartment for small items below. The drive mode selector is implemented as a paddle shifter under the steering wheel.

Powering the crossover SUV is a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine rated at 261 PS (257 hp / 192 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is eight-speed automatic, and there is a coupling on the rear axle for part-time AWD.

Sales in China will start before the end of the year, Exeed says. All prices are pending.
