Ford Capri enjoys a decent tech refresh in Europe

When Ford resurrected the Capri badge in 2023, the company chose to put it on a clumsy electric SUV for Europe, making some fans of the ‘60s-era coupe-like fastback furious. The SUV has now been updated with power range and tech improvements across the board.

For starters, it now sends 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) to the wheels along with 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. That’s 20 horsepower or 15 kilowatts higher than the original output. As a consequence, the new Capri sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.0 seconds, down from 8.7.

Another good news is that the battery pack now consists of lithium-iron-phosphate cells and stores up to 58 kilowatt-hours of energy. Once full, it can deliver up to 464 km (288 miles) of range – up from 393 km (244 miles).

Owners will appreciate single-pedal driving mode, updated ADAS features and power sharing with external appliances. The interior with its 14.6-inch center screen seems to stay the same, but Ford claims the SYNC infotainment system has been updated to the latest version. Among other things, this implies a new and improved user interface.

Preorders are already running. Full prices start at €42,400.
