Large hybrid saloon coming to the Geely Galaxy line

Geely is getting ready for a domestic introduction of a sedan called the Galaxy Starshine 7, AutoHome.cn claims. It has been registered in the country’s vehicle database with some images and technical specifications, looking like a bigger clone of the Starshine 6.

The sedan measures 4,958 x 1,915 x 1,505 mm with a wheelbase of 2,852 mm. As such, it is just 152 mm (6 inches) longer than the Starshine 6 with 96 mm (3.75 inches) of extra wheelbase. The spec sheet mentions 18- and 19-inch wheels. That’s not too different from its smaller cousin, but should translate into some extra legroom and trunk space.

A 1.5-liter engine and a single electric motor provide the power. The Starshine has a similar setup producing 111 PS (109 hp / 82 kW) from the engine and 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) from the motor; the spec sheet mentions the same engine output, but doesn’t contain any motor details. It could remain the same, but we think Geely will want to boost the output somewhat to account for the larger size of the car.

Last but not least, the Starshine 7 looks almost indistinguishable from the model 6 – the radiator grille, the bumper lines and the overall proportions are all nearly the same. Headlights and taillights are the exception, though.

The car remains unannounced, so we don’t know when it may debut and go on sale.
