3-Second Sprint, 500 km / 310 mi of range: Kia unveils CV SUV specs

Media first learned last fall that Kia was working on a new all-electric crossover EV codenamed ‘CV’. The car is now slated for a March debut, and we can study its specs in the meantime.

According to Kia, the newcomer will be based on the same E-GMP rear-wheel-drive platform as the recent Genesis cars and the Hyundai Ioniq (see video). Drivers will be able to replenish power using a variety of external sources, as well as share energy with other EVs and appliances.

The CV will offer around 500 km (310 miles) of driving range, and replenishing 100 km / 62 mph worth of range will only take four minutes. Getting from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) will take three seconds flat.

The crossover will the adaptive cruise control system known as the Highway Driving Assist Level 2, and may switch to the state-of-the-art Kia Highway Driving Pilot in a few years’ time when that technology is ready.
