Emanuel Colombini is famous not only as an Italian furniture mogul but also as an avid Super Trofeo Lamborghini racer. Since the millionaire’s favored car brand is celebrating 60 years this year, he has announced a series of 19 ultra-deluxe Diablo restomods.
The base vehicle is a track-focused Diablo GTR. The entire body gets rebuilt from scratch in order to minimize drag and weight. Every correction is made with skill and expertise: for example, the front grille that was purely decorative on the original Lambo turns into a practical aero cowling here.
The headlights pop up when driving on public roads and vanish inside the hood when track mode is activated. The car length stays largely unchanged from the original, but the overhangs become slightly shorter and new 19-inch racing-style wheels slot into the arches.
Like the original, the restomod relies on a 5.7-liter V12 for propulsion. Valves and camshafts are mentioned as the only notable replacements, and the output amounts to 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. While not top-notch by modern standards, the power combined with the reduced weight is enough to propel the supercar from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and ultimately reach 335 km/h (208 mph).
A prototype of the Eccentrica Diablo will attend this year’s Goodwood and Monterey gatherings. Producing each of the 19 examples will take from 16 to 18 months and cost from €1,200,000 before options, donor vehicle NOT included.
