Viral Lamborghini missile attack vid could cost maker up to 10 years in prison

Famous vlogger Alex Choi (real name Suk Min Choi) is facing a prison sentence for a viral video that exploded on social media last summer. It features a Lamborghini Huracan being blasted with firework cannons from a helicopter and could be in violation of the law on transporting explosives via air, NBC reports.

As Choi said before, what he wanted all along was to imitate an action movie chase in real life using a helicopter and some perfectly legal pyrotechnics. The filming and stunt crews were shooting regular fireworks, like Roman candles, from the helicopter at the supercar and vice versa. The filming location was apparently the dried-up surface of El Mirage Lake, California, a relatively remote and people-free area.

Even so, the prosecution found Choi in violation of numerous safety regulations. Among other things, all fireworks are banned in California, and the fact that the vlogger had to drive to Nevada to buy them doesn’t make him exempt. Furthermore, he had allegedly failed to obtain the permit for piloting a civilian aircraft in the area, and the heli pilot who participated in the stunt had his license revoked for the illegal transportation of fireworks in January this year.

Suk Min Choi has been released from custody on a $50,000 bail, but the final court hearing that will determine his degree of guilt remains scheduled for July 2, 2024.
