Land Rover Defender gets a full-fledged soft top from Heritage Customs

While you can option your Wrangler or Bronco with a removable top straight from the factory, things are less exciting for those in the market for a Land Rover Defender. The top is only partially removable and replaces the power sunroof, making it a so-so choice. Heritage Customs is now offering an aftermarket alternative.

In this version, the off-roader gets a fully featured automatic cloth top that is draped over an all-new roll cage when raised. Despite there being no fixed roof anymore, the b-pillars retain their structural rigidity and the whole SUV gets the FIA certificate. Raising and lowering the hand-sewn top is a matter of a single button press.

For those interested, the convertible series from Heritage Customs is called Valiance and consists of three main designs: a blue one with a beige top; a matte-red one with black accents; and a green one with a tan top (shown here). The former two come with larger 22-inch wheels while the latter makes do with 20-inch ones.

Prices start from €82,500 as long as you source your own Defender 90 for the conversion. There are no ready-made cars in stock, though, so your options are limited to placing a custom order or waiting for somebody to sell their Valiance.
