Companies which are specializing in the production of luxury cars pay great attention to every detail and strive to bring their offspring to perfection. Another example of this was the fact that Lexus announced the development of a new color for its cars, which was called Structural Blue. For 15 years the technical centers of the brand in the USA and Japan, as well as the company VIAVI Solutions, worked on the formula.
In their search, designers sought to achieve a shade that the wings of the butterfly Morpho. The paint is made on the basis of a pigment with 40 separate layers. According to representatives of the company Lexus, the tone of the cabin varies depending on the lighting, which was achieved thanks to a complex nanostructure coating.
Standard colors can reflect up to 50% of incident light, and in Structural Blue this value reaches 100 percent. Paint on the machine is applied a layer of 15 micrometers. The process is so complex that only two cars are painted on the day.
Speaking of the technical side, the Lexus LC500 coupe received a 477-horsepower V8 engine and a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive sports car is gaining 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.
