The Lexus LM is a maxed-out Toyota Alphard for 2x the price in Japan

The second generation of the Lexus LM van is already available in China, Southeastern Asia and Europe. Japan joins the list this week, but the pricing is on the steep side.

The new design iteration of the LM is based on the same GA-K platform as the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. The only spec obtainable in Japan is a hybrid LM500h, which combines a 2.4-liter engine with two motors installed one per axle. Their combined output amounts to 371 PS (366 hp / 273 kW).

Trim selection is also non-existent, with the four-seat Executive being the only option in Japan. It comes with a partition to separate the driver’s seat from the rest of the interior, two VIP seats with footrests, massage and heating, and a high-end climate control system. The passengers have a giant 48-inch display and a fridge at their disposal. As for the HVAC, it utilizes numerous sensors to measure temperatures of select interior parts and decide automatically which ones to cool down and which ones to heat up.

Prices start from ¥20,000,000.
