Say hello to Lister Le Mans, a Jaguar XJ-S propelled by a 7.0-liter V12

A custom-built two-door coupe named Lister Le Mans is currently up for grabs in the United Kingdom with a touch over 800 km (500 miles) on the odo since restoration.

Tuning house Lister used a 1990 Jaguar XJ-S platform as the starting point (chassis number 081LJ), but the result looks even more menacing than the Jaguar XJ220. The team had spent several years working on it. In the beginning, the XJ-S received a six-liter engine swap from a Mk3 model. The engine was upgraded to the Le Mans specification later (see video for details).

Thanks to a couple of Albrecht mechanical superchargers, the seven-liter V12 under the hood produced 608 PS (600 hp / 447 kW) and 813 Nm (600 lb-ft) of torque, taking the coupe 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 4.4 seconds. To put things in perspective, the stock XJ-S made do with a 5.3-liter V12 rated at 299 PS (295 hp / 220 kW) and 431 Nm (318 lb-ft) of torque, and needed 7.5 seconds for the standard sprint.

Elsewhere, the tuners put a six-speed manual transmission in place of the five-speed Getrag gearbox. A total of 25 such vehicles have been produced, and prices for the conversion alone started at £77,000.

The example on sale has stayed in a private collection for the last five years. The owner performed general maintenance on the engine, had the body completely re-painted, and put fresh leather on Recaro seats and the rest of the cabin. The bidding might reach as high as £85,000 or £95,000.
