Study finds EVs with the most satisfied owner base

J.D. Power has conducted a survey in China to determine how satisfied they were with their electrified and all-electric vehicles. The company found that the overall satisfaction rating has dropped since last year.

Basing its research on the term ‘New Energy Vehicle’ (NEV), the analytics company drew up a list of car owners matching its criteria and asked them how they felt about their ride. The market-wide average rating amounted to 770 out of 1000 – down 26 points from the last year. Local Chinese brands scored 768 points (down 27), while imported brands scored 779 (down 23).

The most satisfactory experience was delivered by such local NEV marques as Zeekr, Deepal and Nio, while Mercedes-Benz, Tesla and BMW headed the import rating.

Commenting on the study, J.D. Power pointed out that the cars themselves haven’t changed much – the consumers’ expectations have. As battery cars and hybrids continue their victorious march across China, competition grows stiffer and more customers feel inclined to be critical about their purchases. On the other hand, customer satisfaction is transforming into a top priority for automakers, as recommendations from happy owners lead to bigger sales.
