Nissan introduces a new gas-sparing Sylphy Hybrid for China

Nissan has unveiled the Sylphy e-Power for China, a range extender hybrid with fuel consumption under four liters per 100 km (59+ MPG).

The 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol three-cylinder only provides power for the main electric motor, operating at 72 PS (71 hp / 53 kW). The electric motor then drives the wheels with 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque.

Production will take place at the Nissan-Dongfeng joint enterprise. The Japanese carmaker expects to have launched six e-Power models in China by 2025.

In Europe, similar solutions are implemented in the latest-gen Nissan Qashqai and Note. The former now ships exclusively in hybrid form and commands 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW). The Note hatchback has a 1.2-liter IC engine rated at 82 PS (81 hp / 60 kW) and an electric motor good for 116 PS (114 hp / 85 kW) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque.
