Nissan Rogue goes hybrid in the USA

The North American office of Nissan has unveiled the company’s first full-fledged hybrid vehicle in the region: the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid. It will be exhibited at the LA Auto Show on November 21–30 and will go on sale in early 2026 with all prices pending; the regular Rogue currently starts from around $29,000.

The crossover SUV also known as the X-Trail in other markets comes equipped with a 2.4-liter engine and two electric motors linked to a 20-kWh battery pack. It outputs 251 PS (248 hp / 185 kW) and runs out of charge after 61 km (38 miles) of all-electric driving.

If the above sounds familiar, that’s because the car is a carbon copy of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, just slightly redesigned and rebadged. In fact, the Outlander is better equipped with the same powertrain tuned to deliver 306 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) and a larger 22.4-kWh battery pack. Even the gloss-black trim bits and the 20-inch wheels aren’t original, but rather sourced from the Outlander’s Black Edition package.

The interior offers seven seats across three rows, a 12.3-inch digital dash display and a 9-inch head unit, smaller than the 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen of the ICE version. There are only two trims to choose from, SL and Platinum, but most driver assists are available straight from the factory. The top trim (leather) additionally gets a 10-inch HUD, a nine-speaker Bose audio system, a power-assisted sunroof and heated rear seats (heated front seats are standard).
