Opel opens its “rebooted” GSE lineup with a Mokka Rally Concept

After promising to get back to the drawing board with its sporty GSE badge, Opel has now revealed the first entry on this new lineup: the Mokka GSE Rally. It’s a concept at this point, but the company hints at production plans existing for late 2025.

Compared to the stock Mokka, the sported-up version boasts a revised aero kit with a roof scoop, yellow brake calipers, new wheels and a custom livery designed specifically for the new GSE family of vehicles. It follows the same theme in the cabin with bucket seats, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and a roll cage.

The powertrain sources its electricity from a 54-kWh battery pack and delivers 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW) along with 345 Nm (254 lb-ft) of torque. Opel doesn’t specify the motor count, but mentions a racing-grade transmission with a multi-plate differential, as well as heavy-duty driveshafts and hubs. The suspension benefits from Bilstein shock absorbers and springs, while custom struts promise sharper handling on the track. The ESP is disabled on the concept.

Safety features deserve a separate mention. The automaker says the undercarriage and the battery compartment are reinforced to prevent damage during racing. The high-voltage electric system on board is configured to cut the power within milliseconds from a sudden deceleration (i.e., possible collision), effectively avoiding fires even in serious accidents. Last but not least, the fire extinguishing system on board uses a non-conductive agent suitable for EV fires.
