The Pontiac Solstice is a mid-sized American sports car classic that looks very little like the manufacturer’s other production vehicle, the GTO Coupe. Someone still felt the two had enough in common to merge them – and here’s the result.
The tuner behind the project took a 1970s-era Solstice with its curved body and droplet-shaped headlamps and replaced its entire nose with the boxier GTO front, including twin nostril grilles and a curved bumper. He also took care to replace the headlamps with two-tier round units and swap the hood cover with a GTO-style aftermarket replacement.
We are in two minds about this build. On the one hand, it looks rather eccentric and disproportionate, suggesting that you shouldn’t mix the Solstice with the GTO (as if you didn’t know that already). On the other hand, the quality of execution is spotless, and unless you take interest in Pontiac cars you might not be able to tell this one from stock.
In other words, it isn’t necessarily your cup of tea, but we applaud the skill of the tuner!
