Porsche Taycan owners in the United States are invited to their nearest service station for repairs targeting the heating unit, which can both fail to work and degrade battery life.
The problem resides in the antifreeze heating module used to quickly warm up the antifreeze liquid circulating from the traction battery and further into the cabin heating system. Faulty soldering on one of the circuit boards may result in the HVAC running, but the interior of the car remaining cold. It also adversely affects the battery pack.
The issue is most pronounced in model years 2020 and 2021, but a quick Internet search reveals similar complaints concerning newer EVs as well. Audi e-tron GT owners may face similar issues because both cars are based on the same platform. This has not been confirmed yet, though.
The repairs will take around 6 hours, Porsche says, and all service outlets have been pre-stocked with all the necessary parts. There are reports from drivers claiming that shops take longer to fix the issue, though, so you would probably be better off scheduling an appointment.
