Cute Suzuki Jimny works even better as a petite turbo truck

Italy-based tuning shop Z.Mode has unveiled a conversion project that takes the Suzuki Jimny and makes a pickup truck out of it without sacrificing any of the original’s overlanding qualities – if anything, the modded ride feels more at home off the grid.

To achieve this, the team avoided stretching the bed or the overhangs. Instead, they lifted the body by a further 100 mm (4 inches) thanks to new tires and suspension springs. The approach, departure and ramp angles rose to impressive 51, 38 and 60 degrees, respectively. The stock SUV was quite great as is with the respective angles at 37, 28 and 49 degrees, but still not as remarkable.

Some of the options listed include a snorkel for traversing rivers, a winch, mudflaps, LED lighting options, body decals and 15-inch wheels coming in steel, aluminum and beadlock-protected flavors.

Last by not least, the 1.5-liter mill under the hood received a boost courtesy of a Garrett T25 turbocharger, an intercooler, new manifolds and injectors. When all was said and done, the engine hit the four wheels with 172 PS (170 hp / 127 kW) and 270 Nm (201 lb-ft) of torque through the stock five-speed manual transmission. For a bit of perspective, the donor car had about one-third of the power and one-half of the torque.

Just to be clear, the show car in the first photos below is called “Golden Queen” and is not for sale, because it serves as an homage to Z.Mode founder, Giuseppe Quintavalli, who passed away not long ago. However, the company will be making 22 similar-looking trucks and offering them starting from €62,222, the donor vehicle, materials and work already included in the price.
