The Toyota Century is a V12-powered full-size sedan that was first introduced in 1967 and has since been sold exclusively in Japan (see the gallery and the video). The latest generation came out in 2018. The starting price of the luxury car translates into 152,000 USD. Interestingly, according to Best Car, the model will debut in an SUV body further into 2023.
The so-called SUV Century will reportedly be based on the latest Highlander platform, rather than the Century sedan platform. Even so, it is shaping up to be even longer than the donor with two seat rows and an abundance of legroom even for the tallest passengers in the back row.
More specifically, Best Car Japan claims that the SUV Century will be 5.2 meters (17.06 feet) long – longer than even the Land Cruiser – and have 3 meters (9.84 feet) of wheelbase. For a four-seater, the cabin space must be vast!
As for the power, the publication assumes that the model could receive the same 3.5-liter V6 as the Lexus LC 500h and LS 500h, as well as an optional hybrid powertrain. All of the above remains to be confirmed by other sources, though.
