Toyota hasn’t revealed any details when it showed us the next-gen Crown sedan, but the patent images it submitted a little while ago suggest the model underwent a major transformation and now has an SUV-like body.
The official teaser photo shows the front end from aside with a fender, an a-pillar and some of the headlight. Everything looks identical to the patent filings found farther into our gallery here.
It is expected that the next-generation Toyota Crown will change body style from sedan to sporty liftback, while a light ‘rugged’ body kit and higher-than-usual ground clearance will lend it a bit of an SUV vibe.
The TNGA-K platform the newcomer is based upon supports FWD and AWD layouts, as well as all main kinds of powertrains including ICE, hybrid and electric.
