VW Atlas gets all-round updates heading into 2027

The U.S.-spec Volkswagen Atlas crossover, known in the rest of the world as the Teramont, has undergone a facelift. Prices are still pending, but the main parameters have already been disclosed.

On the outside, the 2027 Atlas sports a distinct radiator grille, a revised front bumper and multi-section headlights, as well as an illuminated VW logo. The body outlines and dimensions seem to be the same or close.

In its cheapest form, the SUV ships with a 10.25-inch digital dashboard and a 12.9-inch head unit. Paying for a higher trim upgrades the central display to 15 inches of diagonal size. If you look closely, you’ll see many similarities with the Teramont Pro model for China, but there is no passenger-side display. What you see in the gallery here is just a backlit trim on the dash.

Feature-wise, Volkswagen promises the latest in its ADAS tech but without many details. A bigger change occurs in the powertrain department, where the standard 2.0-liter turbo four-pot gets new turbocharger and other optimized internals. As a result, it now sends 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) to the wheels, up from 273 PS (270 hp / 202 kW).

At the same time, peak torque goes down by 15 Nm (11 lb-ft) and now amounts to 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). An eight-speed transmission sends the momentum to the front wheels, and AWD is an option.

Later on, Volkswagen hopes to add a hybrid variant of the Atlas to the lineup. When it may happen is still unknown.
