The media in Germany are reporting that the Volkswagen and Audi brands are now looking for ways to keep the internal combustion engine alive, including by downsizing their electrification targets.
Rumors to this effect have been circulating for months now, so this isn’t exactly news. Representatives of both brands have hinted at these intentions on multiple occasions, too. Still, we are now being told that Audi and Volkswagen will be making an official statement regarding their new EV plans in early March. That’s something to look forward to.
EV sales fell 2.7% for Volkswagen and 7.8% for Audi last year, prompting both companies to look for alternatives.
