Volkswagen has yet to properly introduce its zero-emission ID. Polo hatchback lineup, but someone has leaked three photos to Reddit that look genuine enough. There’s both the standard version and the sported-up GTI modification in the gallery above.
By all indications, the photos were discreetly made during a private presentation. If you look closely, you’ll see that all three Polos resemble the ID.2all Concept from three years ago (see video). The front bumper, the headlights and the c-pillars are all similarly styled, if not exactly the same. There are some visible simplifications, granted, and the hood cover looks completely different from the original design.
Back in December, Volkswagen shed light on the powertrains being developed for the electric Polo lineup. The main car will be obtainable with anywhere between 116 and 211 PS (114–208 hp; 85–155 kW) and will make do with a modest-sized 37-kWh battery. Its GTI counterpart will get a single e-motor rated at 266 PS (262 hp / 196 kW) and a larger 52-kWh battery pack. Driving range and dynamic performance remain to be revealed.
As for the interior, it was officially revealed in January this year. If you browse to the end of the gallery here, you’ll see that the overall layout still favors touchscreens over traditional physical buttons, but at least there are plenty of those provided, too. The dashboard gives off faint retro vibes, and that’s about it.
