Volvo EM90 bows with 272 PS, 738 km of electric range

Volvo has officially presented its first-ever minivan, the all-electric EM90. It runs on the same chassis and tech as the China-made Zeekr 009 and covers 738 km (458 miles) on a charge, if you trust the CLTC range measurement standard.

The EM90 looks like a rebadged and only mildly redesigned Chinese van with a different front fascia, new headlights and some distinct interior trim bits. Other than that, it is indistinguishable from the Zeekr.

The only electric motor available so far resides on the rear axle, driving it with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW). It is enough to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in 8.3 seconds. The battery holds 116 kilowatt-hours of charge and takes less than half an hour to replenish from zero to 80% at a sufficiently powerful charging station. A bidirectional charger is provided, meaning you can use the battery for charging other EVs and powering up various appliances.

The interior has three seat rows with particularly comfortable seats in the middle row (power adjustments, massage, ventilation and heating already included). The rear seat occupants get a 15.6-inch infotainment display for themselves. The central dash display is 15.4 inches large.

The Volvo EM90 goes on sale in China priced from 818,000 Yuan (around $112,000 USD).
