Xiaomi SU7 Ultra owners complain about costly fake hood vents

The much-hyped Chinese super-EV, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, got itself into a scandal last weekend as those who optioned it with a 42,000-Yuan ($6,000) carbon hood discovered that all air vents were fake.

A class action has been filed by more than 300 owners against Xiaomi, demanding a full refund for the hood. The company has already apologized and explained that the fake vents were just “inspired” by the record-breaking SU7 Ultra prototype racer, not copied from it.

Right now, owners have two options: either accept a compensation equivalent to $275 or cancel the option and get a refund as long as the car is still in the delivery queue. Those who had already had their car delivered and don’t want the $6,000 fake vent “upgrade” have little choice but to join the lawsuit.
