A century-old camping wagon goes on sale

When the UK firm named Eccles unveiled its Jacobean Caravan in 1919, it started what we know nowadays as the camping tradition. although it had since produced numerous other Caravans (like in the video here), the classic Jacobean has stayed a favorite among collectors. In fact, RM Sotheby’s is about to sell one such in France later this week.

Assembled in 1928, the Jacobean Caravan is 98 years old. The listing claims it was designed in a style popular in the Tudor era, both on the outside and inside. A peek inside reveals a pair of sofas, a folding table, a fridge and a gas stovetop, as well as multiple chests of drawers. Wood is used throughout as the main structural material.

This particular camper has been restored multiple times throughout the years, and its current owner took it on a trip around Europe not too long ago. The condition is being described as great, but the price estimate is rather conservative at €15,000–20,000.
