Video: Listen to the old Acura NSX sing in a brand-new voice

Maryland-based tuning firm Bad Cat Engineering has devised a particularly creative exhaust system for the icon that’s the first-generation Acura NSX. There’s no doing justice to it with mere words, so better check out the video.

When it arrived in the United States, the original NSX coupe had a 3.0-liter V6 under the hood tuned to deliver roughly 254 PS (250 hp / 184 kW). The new exhaust system revolutionizes the sound of that engine by replacing all parts down from, and including, the manifold.

The company claims that well-appointed layout of the new system and its larger diameter lends the car a richer, juicier exhaust note without any need to mess with the cylinder block. Which isn’t to say that the power output stays the same – BCE promises at least a moderate dyno-measurable improvement in that regard.

Right now, the tuner says it wants to continue developing the system and refining its sound profile. Once ready, it will be made to order for any first-gen Acura NSX enthusiasts out there. We hope to hear the pricing details closer to that date.
