A 46-year-old, low-mileage, carefully tuned Unimog U1300 SE truck will be up for bidding in the USA in late January. One of its former owners was none other than famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. There are no estimates thus far.
Having rolled off the assembly line in the distant 1977, the truck received a complete overhaul and some tuning at a German shop Unimog Merex Mertec in 2012. The listing claims that Schwarzenegger himself approved of all the modifications.
These included new 22-inch wheels, off-road tires with a pressure control system, air-ride suspension, a winch, a reversing camera, and Hella floodlights, among other things. A Blaupunkt audio system is the biggest addition to the interior. A 6.4-liter diesel engine under the hood sends 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW) to the wheels.
Rumor has it that the actor sold his ride nine years ago, and it has since changed multiple owners. In 2016, it cropped up on sale for eye-watering $351,000. With 4,300 km (2,672 miles) on the odometer since new, it has barely seen any actual use. There is Schwarzenegger’s autograph on the dash, too, so it could fetch a tidy sum once again.
