Russia launches the Aurus Senat sedan into production

Full-scale production of the long-anticipated luxury saloon named Aurus Senat started in the town of Yelabuga, Russia. The industrial site is rated for 5,000 annual vehicles, but the company only plans to make around 600 such sedans per year.

It is the Komendant SUV that should receive most of the production capacities when it reaches that stage, however, the car still hasn’t even officially debuted yet. The first concept hit the spotlight over two years ago, but while the launch had been planned for 2020, Aurus only has some patent pics of the Komendant to show us at this time. Still, rumor has it the model will reach the assembly lines later this year and go on sale in 2022.

Price-wise, the Senat is comparable with the latest Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. The NAMI industrial zone in Moscow will continue to piece together custom-ordered LWB and armored versions of the car, while the factory in Yelabuga will focus on the main spec.
