BMW is going to trim down the 8-Series lineup, BMWBlog reports pointing out that the four-door Gran Coupe may end up the only survivor – and everything points to it getting electrified.
As for the 8-Series Coupe and Convertible, these two will most likely drop out of the market soon due to their exceedingly poor sales. The Gran Coupe is the only one enjoying reasonably good demand, so BMW has allegedly reached a decision to keep it and optimize the rest.
The alleged source inside the Bavarian company claims the next generation of the BMW 8 will run on the CLAR platform already in use these days, as it lends itself well enough to both ICE cars and EVs. Having said that, the current generation (see the gallery and the video) will probably stay around until 2025, so the replacement probably won’t come until then.
