BMW M2 Competiton gets a boost to 550 hp

While the regular BMW M2 is wildly popular among tuners, its sportier version – the M2 Competition – is even more attractive. Customization shops have been releasing numerous mods for it ever since it came out.

Last month, a performance upgrade was issued by Dähler, bringing its engine output to 540 hp (403 kW). Today, Manhart has managed to beat this record.

The premium sports car comes off the assembly line equipped with an engine good for 410 hp (306 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb×ft) of torque. The latest upgrade by Manhart brings it up to the level of 550 hp (410 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb×ft) of torque. This is made possible via a simple ECU remap.

As a result, the car gets more engine power than its senior cousins, the M3 and even the M4 CS.

For the BMW M2 Competition to better cope with the new power, it additionally gets a carbon air intake system, stronger carbon-ceramic brakes and a stainless-steel muffler with four carbon tailpipes.

Aside from the above, you may opt for a body kit consisting of a front splitter, a rear diffusor, aerodynamic flaps, and a carbon rear spoiler lip. Also available is a set of 21-inch Manhart wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Supersport tires.
