New BMW X1 & iX1 present exteriors and specs

Autoevolution has shed light on the official appearance and some of the technical specifications of the upcoming BMW X1 and its all-electric cousin, the iX1.

The 1-Series SUV retains its recognizable body while getting new bumpers and a larger, edgier front grille. The electric car gets blue exterior accents to differentiate it from its ICE sibling. The DRLs seen inside the headlights resemble those found on the facelifted 3-Series.

Moving on to the cabin, there is an M steering wheel with classic hardware buttons, a dual display composed from screens 10.2 and 10.7 inches large, and massage-enabled seats. A two-tier center console and a minimalistic gear selector are also seen on the interior photo. The dashboard has horizontal air vents laid out in a staggered fashion. The trunk volume is given as 540–1600 liters (17.66–56.5 cubic feet).

The BMW iX1 uses dual electric motors to drive the wheels with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW), and you can briefly boost the output to 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW). The traction battery stores up to 64.7 kilowatt-hours of power, which is enough for 438 km (272 miles) of driving. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes 29 minutes at a rapid-charge terminal.

Deliveries are set to begin in the fall. The ICE-powered BMW X1 will be the first to reach the market, with the iX1 scheduled to follow later.
